I am curious where you live? My six year old is allowed to ride his bike alone in our quiet neighborhood. I can't imagine not even letting him outside in the yard?
NP. I'm in DC. My six year old is allowed to walk around the block and she is the only kid remotely close to her age doing that. Other parents have expressed concern to me about it, including of the your kid will get kidnapped/I should call the cops on you variety. Norms on this stuff have changed enormously since I was a kid. No one where I live is is letting their kids that age ride their bikes around.
Thank you for being the sole voice of reason. That’s hard but it is the only way sanity can return to modern parenting.
NP- I grew up in DC. No way would I let my six year old wander around on the street alone.

Anonymous wrote:Safe neighborhood with fenced in backyard. What age would you let your child be out there without you? Like if you needed to make dinner or do dishes.
