That's your decision but other people would rather risk the dead baby so they can make baby #3, 4, 5, 6 etc. This is why we don't get to make medical decisions for each other.

OP, sharing only in case it's helpful: I was hoping for an unmedicated birth, but my first was breech. I tried inversions, the spinning babies stuff, and an ECV (two doctors, the experienced one I scheduled with, then a superior who happened to be on hand after she had no luck).

Ended up with a scheduled C and healthy baby, which was totally fine.

Theres a recent birth hour podcast story about this and I think the person was in the DMV area. It did seem pretty difficult, but she was able to do it. I guess there are certain things that make you a good candidate for delivering a breech baby. She apparently did a ton of research about it.

I went into labor early, labored for hours and was fully dilated before the doctors realized my baby was breach. We had an emergency c-section, and my scar is minimal and recovery about average. When my baby was born he had lots of bruising and swelling along his bottom and genitals due to the contractions -- that alone should give you pause. It was unpleasant for all and I am so thankful it was caught before the pushing began because it could have been a tragic ending.

A scheduled c-section is really not a bad way to give birth. I would not take this risk.

My mil had this. 98 stitches. Black and blue from knees to waist for weeks afterwards. Incontinent. There’s a time for c section and breech is it.

Moxibustion sticks worked to turn my breech baby. I got them from my midwife.

GW does breech deliveries but as PPs have said, I don’t think it’s worth the risk.

I had the same problem and was asking the same question on another forum and got the same "DON'T DO IT" responses. My baby was also measuring 90th percentile for size so I was *really* running out of time. I did spinning babies for several days to make room. Then we put older sibling to bed, I propped my legs up on DH on the couch (pelvis up-ish) and I put an ice pack on baby's head. I felt her squirm away and didn't think much of it. Later that evening I didn't feel the big head bobbing around in there. SHE FLIPPED.

I did alot of research on this. There are two kinds of breeches, the "oh SH8t"breaches delivered by somebody who doesn't know what they're doing, and the planned ones delivered by someone with experience. So take all the research with a grain of salt. Alot of the breech injuries are due to people pulling on the baby because they don't know what they're doing. If you want a large family a breech vaginal delivery is a viable option once you consider the risks from the c section to future babies.

I ended up with a c section anyway due to failed induction. Go figure.

What is your provider currently saying? If you’re having positive discussions about ECV, spinning babies, maybe PT etc. with your doc, then I would start with them because they are (so far) the best informed about your individual pregnancy. If their attitude is breach= csection no further discussion, I would consider whether they’re the best provider for you anyway— you have to feel comfortable that the practice you’re using aligns with and understands your preferences and is willing to take the time to discuss the options, because even a straightforward vaginal delivery involves choices. You should also ask what their ECV success rate is because some doctors are better at it than others. If you do have to look elsewhere I have also heard good things about Tschabo.

Good on you for looking for all the information you can. At the end of this, you are the one who has to recover from your delivery and you are the one who has to feel like you made the best choice for yourself and your baby.
