COMMON PEOPLE.

MSI is only following MoCo’s mandate. Please do a little homework before bashing MSI, OP.

The mask and spectator mandate affects all clubs that plays in MoCo. We are at Potomac and we have to follow the exact same regulations when playing in MoCo fields especially at the Soccerplex. This is why the Bethesda tournament was played in Howard County.

If you play soccer in MoCo and don’t know this is a MoCo rule, then you have been living under a rock since COVID started.

Or play soccer anywhere else- this is an MSI thing

Exactly!

We're a family with high risk members. We chose MSI rec this season because the restrictions are what work for us. If you want less restrictions there are plenty of other options for you.

This. I’m glad for the stricter rules

Except society is moving on. Kids shouldn’t be punished for that.

I don't think my kid feel punished because his parents watch the game on video. Heck, after a year of "togetherness" he's probably thrilled that we aren't coming.

Yes our kid plays in PPA and the rules are the same- games are in moco. Masks and only 1 spectator per player

We are also an MSI team only playing because MSI has always required masks. Our kids are too young to receive any vaccines right now.

Looks like the spectator rules come from the County, page 3:

Mask wearing is from the County Council - mandatory for any team playing in the County, doesn't matter what league or field.

If you tell the truth around here, it's amazing how quickly your message is disappeared.

MSI will be starting a bubble soccer league this spring, all teams required to sign up.

If it’s true, makes me want to just forgo the season.

You’d make your kid skip it just because you have to sit in the car? It’s for the kids, let them have it. When it’s cold and raining, you really won’t mind.

Also, spectators weren’t allowed at the Soccerplex in the fall either and at the field we were on, 1 per kid wasn’t followed so well, so my guess is rather than police it, they decided on the no spectators route.

OP you responded too. First of all, I didn’t say I would take him out, it just makes my angry. Second, Obviously, I would ask my kid first, but knowing him, he is going to be completely bummed if neither of us are allowed to watch. His friend wasn’t able to stay on the team for other reasons, so he isn’t going to be upset if we drop out.

Completely insane. Who is making these decisions? When kids are in school and vaccines available to everyone? Wtf?

I was going to sign my Kindergartner up. So glad we didn't. 5 year olds do not want to play a sport for the first time without parents in eye distance. This is ridiculous.

It is nuts. There is absolutely positively no risk in people standing outside at a park or school in masks spread out. Someone enlighten me with the data or science behind this, or a single example from contact tracing of spread in this manner. It's an absolute farce.

They are, and you should know that these are the relaxed restrictions! All winter there could be no spectators at the games which was sooo stupid. At least they have opened up the games at the high schools to spectators. They must have realized that it was stupid and there were a suspiciously high number or “neighbors” walking around the track during games.

I also find it so strange it’s more restrictive than the fall.
