There are such things as rec player cards--at least in VA. Generally they are not used since most clubs just play each other in house. If your rec team goes to a rec tournament--yes they do exist--you may need them then. I think the all-star tournaments require them for registration as well. You will also need your rec card if you are on a rec team and asked to guest play with a travel team.
