I had a rash all over my torso starting about 36 hours after the second dose of Moderna vaccine. It didn't itch and was gone 2 days later.

I have occasionally gotten similar rashes due to having actual viruses, so I figured it was something similar.

If it's not itching, I wouldn't really be worried. Give it a couple of days and it'll probably be gone.

Rash is a common side effect of the mRNA vaccines. I had a mild rash on the backs of my hand about 12-16 hours after my first Pfizer shot. It was gone the next morning.

If there are no other complicating side effects, and they are not itchy, then wait it out. As long as there are no serious side effects (extremely high temp, trouble breathing, etc), then just take some OTC meds to address the side effects and try to rest. If the effects last more than 48 hours from start (so no more than 72 hours from the injection), then you should visit an ER or contact your physician. Otherwise, just try to sleep it off.

The vast majority I have heard who had reactions, the issues resolved themselves within 48-72 hours and they were fine. It's just your immune system adapting to the vaccine.

At the very least, call an advice line if you have this benefit.

And yes, Benadryl right away.

Please come back and update, OP.

Why? Sure, call your doctor and get their advice but if it's not causing something like breathing problems why would you rush to an ER for a rash?

At last call your doctor. I've had severe reactions/rashes to injectable medications. Nothing helped - benadryl, steroid orally or cream. It can be life threatening and last for weeks and very painful. Its better to be at the ER if a worse reaction occurs.

How is your DH doing?

Polyethylene glycol might be the culprit. It was for my sister, who has the rash on her chest right away after Pfizer.
She died her hair a couple of days after the vaccine and broke out in a rash all or her body. Rash was more localized right after the vaccine.
Since she used a creme and broke out again, she realized that all contained Polyethylene. That is how she was able to realize that the Pfizer vaccine activated her allergy. She is not getting a second dose.
Kind of like the bee sting, if you are allergic first one won't kill you, but you never know about the subsequent stings.

Huh? A vaccine reaction is not an infection. This is the craziest medical advice ever given on dcum.

I would say allergic reaction. A dr. might give oral steroids for a few days. I have had that reaction twice to IV drugs. It starts on the abdomen and spreads all over except face. In the meantime he can take some benadryl. I would ask for it to be written down as an allergic reaction and avoid that particular vaccine in the future.
