I’m shocked that you’re all bringing babies indoors right now.

11mo. She's in daycare, along with her older sister. Aside from that, she's been to the pediatrician, my parents' house, and the ER (for anaphylaxis, so unavoidable). Nothing else indoors, but DH and I are both fully vaccinated now, so we might loosen up on that a bit. Like a trip to Target, not indoor dining.

Ive taken mine everywhere since the start when necessary (no childcare options). No issues.

I take mine to the grocery store. And to the pet store, wine store, and small church services. We've all been fine.

11 month old has been to the doctor. Aside from that - no other place inside! Everything is outside. Our yard, parks, beaches (we’re in Southern California) at least once a day but nothing inside anywhere.

Have an 11 mos old. Obviously been to pediatrician and actually he needs to go to PT so will start that next week too. Have run in to do quick errands with me, but no grocery shopping. Lots and lots of walks tho .....

I am actually super worried he hasn’t had even a sniffle. I’m stressed about his immune system when the world opens back up

I’m contemplating taking him on a plane this summer. He obviously won’t be able to be masked, but if everyone else is and vaccination rates are high, I’m feeling safe about it. Would others ?

FWIW data is showing young babies don't catch this as much. Anecdotally my niece managed not to catch COVID despite her parents and grandparents (who provide her daycare) catching it in separate incidents.

So be smart but don't be paranoid. Your baby is most likely to catch it from you or other adult caretakers.

I have a slightly older kid. Almost two. Since March 2020, has only been indoors to pediatrician, my parents’ house, and of course, our house. I would never take her indoors elsewhere because she can’t wear a mask. I don’t bring my older one with a mask often, either, but he has gone into Target once or maybe twice. We do go to parks and playgrounds, but we try to stay away from other people, even outside.

Ummmmm what about the like 6-8 doctors appointments required in the first year? I feel like you’re definitely exaggerating. My 8 month old hasn’t been inside any stores bc neither have we (thank you to our Whole Foods shoppers and delivery/curbside) but he’s been inside for necessary doctor’s visits! And we go on walks and hikes and things too.

She's 14 months so just past your age cutoff, but DH and I are both fully vaccinated now and have just started taking her places indoors occasionally. No indoor dining, but a run to the grocery store if we're out, stopping in a store for coffee or the restroom, things like that. She loves it. She was scared at first after mostly being at home for a year, but we're trying to balance caution with easing her back into the world. The stimulation is good for her.

The truth is that at 1 year old, she's very low-risk for covid complications and if a space is large and/or well-ventilated and everyone around her is wearing masks, we feel pretty good about that.

No, my six-month-old has never been to a store or restaurant. She’s never even been to anyone else’s house except our nanny’s.

But she goes to the park daily, and the beach and hiking in woods at least once a week.

Mine hasn’t gone to the grocery store but has been with me to the coffee shop for takeout or to restaurants for picking up takeout. I wear her in her carrier. But she also goes to daycare so def more at risk there, and it’s been fine.
