Pfffffft, those aren’t “yachts”. Those are strivers.

Real yachts are still in Lauderdale right now. And they don’t come to DC.

Ever.

Let's start with tightening up your use of language.

If one is trying to climb the social ladder in The District, with whom does one try to socialize?

Go to company holiday parties of the 'elite' firms. I've never tried it but I doubt anyone would question why you are there if you dress appropriately. Then, start hob knobbing with the big wigs. Don't drink too much but always have a drink in hand.

I think you mean the Blue Book. Or are you being sarcastic? Yeah, OP, you want the Blue Book. Unless you come from a family with generations of money and/or power, probably not going to happen.

Nope. It's the Green Book. Has a nice felt cover and feels are rich and luxurious as the names within.

Private school admissions officers, apparently.

- signed, Meghan Markle

Are you kidding? Everyone in Washington would DIE to have Megan Markle at their party.

There’s no such thing as DC society. There are circles of power, and to be in them you need a powerful job or a spouse with a powerful job.

I just want to add that I’m a native and I think that’s good. Weird example but I remember when Southern Charm came out, I didn’t understand why Thomas would be a big deal since he was clearly a f$& up. With very few exceptions, a famous family is only of interest in DC when you’re young, and the older you get without achieving a powerful job of your own, the less it matters.

OP would be qualified.

Burning Tree Golf Club is one of the most exclusive clubs in the area, with an initiation fee of $75,000 and invitation-only membership. It’s exclusive for another reason as well: no women are allowed on the property. At the club, women aren’t allowed membership or employment.
