How is this a thing? How can this possibly be allowable? According to some here, the AA community has a very difficult time obtaining ID, hence the federal push to outlaw any requirements at the state level requiring ID to vote.
But states - even here here in DC - are requiring people who want to get vaccines to show ID first?!?! Seriously?!?!
If people can’t get an ID, and we need to change election laws to reflect that, then how can you possibly demand them display an ID to get a vaccine that could save their life?
What?!?!
OP, you are disgusting. you could not care less of AA people and whether they have access to vaccines of not. this is the usual "why we cannot change the law to require IDs to vote" while people need ID to buy alcohol and crap like that. no, there is no push to outlaw requirement at the state level requiring ID to vote, there is aa gigantic effort at the state level promoted by the GOP to introduce laws that would make difficult for people to vote (not just ID for people who have already showed them when they registered to vote), including dramatically reducing early voting days (Iowa cut 1/3 of early voting days), reducing voting hours on election day, dramatically limiting eligibility for mail voting/absentee voting, dramatically reducing the number of drop boxes, all things that have nothing to do with coting fraud but everything to do with making more difficult to vote, especially for poorer people and especially in dense urban areas. so, really GTH
Then why oppose voter ID if ID’s are so easy to get?
Why is showing proof of who you are the hill that dems are so determined to die on?
It’s almost like dems want to enable situations where one person could go around voting all day long under other people’s name, or do the same with mail in ballots picked up in-person, in advance of an election.
Explain how either of those scenarios isn’t possible. I’ll wait.
Count up the number of times either of these things has actually happened. You can do it while you wait.
We don’t know it’s happening if there’s no data, because there is no mechanism for it in the first place.

Please explain to us exactly how those in the AA community "have a very difficult time obtaining ID." Is there something specific to the AA community that limits the number of IDs available, for example?
I can't wait to hear this.
Considering that you can not open a bank account without some form of ID, (and that isn’t not going to change due to the AML/BSA laws) it sounds critical that we get more folks access to IDs ASAP.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I was asked for ID as well, but all you are required to do is prove identity, which could be as simple as the QR code when you register. OP is just trolling.
How did people register? Was it online? How about all those don't have access to cell phones or laptops, can't read, and don't have the money to take public transit?

It's more to do with access. People who are poor, which in this country means disproportionately minority, may have a harder time obtaining the necessary records or proof of residency, might not be able to afford the fees, and might have trouble getting to the DMV because it's not easily accessible by public transportation and because they can't take time off work. In some states, legislatures have even reduced the number or operating hours of DMV offices in heavily black areas. Also, elderly people, especially the elderly poor, may not have all the required documents -- if they were born at home, they might not even have a birth certificate, or the records are incomplete. These issues with access don't affect everyone equally, but they can make it harder for people to get a government-issued photo id.
But that's tangential to OP's panic or whatever, since it's not required to get the vaccine in DC, MD, or VA.
