Sure? My friend who went to MIT said he was rejected OOS from UVA. This was a while ago. We assumed yield protection since he had top stats/ECs/etc...or something weird happened.
Yes, because UVA has a relatively small admissions office and doesn't have the resources to track demonstrated interest and the like. It's not like a public which can throw 200 people into reviewing yield prospects. But VT is certainly doing it this year so maybe we're seeing something new here. I'm seeing kids with perfect SATs or ACTs and incredible GPAs waitlisted.
