Sure? My friend who went to MIT said he was rejected OOS from UVA. This was a while ago. We assumed yield protection since he had top stats/ECs/etc...or something weird happened.


Yes, because UVA has a relatively small admissions office and doesn't have the resources to track demonstrated interest and the like. It's not like a public which can throw 200 people into reviewing yield prospects. But VT is certainly doing it this year so maybe we're seeing something new here. I'm seeing kids with perfect SATs or ACTs and incredible GPAs waitlisted.

You can’t say that for anyone. Tons of high stat kids are going to get rejected.

The pattern seems to be in or waitlist for OOS. Instates aren't doing so well:

Waitlisted in-state. I'm not angry or anything, but I'm seriously surprised that I didn't get in. 4.3W, 36 ACT, 1500 SAT.

Here's a NOVA waitlist:

Waitlisted.

In state. 4.3 W GPA with 13 APs including Senior Year, 1540 SAT, Extracurriculars with national awards. I would say decent recs and essays. Deferred from EA

Probably not. TJ kids don't do 13APs nor have GPAs in the 4.8 range. Not possible at TJ.
