This isn’t true.
How could this be interpreted as anything but good for local ECNL? Do you really like bus trips to SC/NC or NJ?
MD girls parent here, and I would not like this hypothetical realignment. PDA and Match Fit are good clubs that would be excluded, and the girls play the VA teams enough already in scrimmages and local tournaments or VDA showcase.
Much like NC clubs you assume PDA thinks driving down to MD just to pound you benefits them.

I believe GA allows kids to play HS but they do not adjust their season schedule to accommodate HS soccer.
Currently ECNL does and if such a league realignment were to happen the writing is on the wall that HS soccer will no longer be scheduled around. Kids will have to make their choice, HS team or ECNL or ECNL. Star players can do what they want but bubble starters and subs might think twice about risking their ECNL spot for HS.
I can see no reason ECNL would do that. How does it help them in any way at all?
It consolidates divisions and lessons travel. Less travel makes ECNL more affordable to more players. More players makes a stronger player pool. ECNL has no obligation to support HS sports. HS soccer doesn’t do anything to benefit ECNL in any way. Kids can still play HS soccer but killing off GA, making the league more affordable to more kids means a net gain.

Anonymous wrote:Not a soccer parent, but have kids in other sports. With the exception of the most highly ranked basketball and football teams in the country (read: revenue sports for college) does anyone really care about high school teams if they play high level? I've heard different for baseball but I dont know baseball.

Not when you are a monopoly.
ECNL never accommodated HS soccer before DA. There was no rule against playing HS soccer but the ECNL season marched on regardless. Players made their choice and coaches approved or disapproved on a per player basis.
ECNL will revert to how they once were. If you don’t like it then don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Once ECNL has limited GA to mostly rubble they will ditch HS and you will just have to suck it up.
That’s cute. In my HS team most of them quit ECNL spring season to focus on HS

Stop. No one cares about the GA. It’s already dead. Nothing is changing.
