The only poster that presented facts vs opinions has me convinced that leagues do matter and that ECNL is the best girls youth league in the country. Is a league the only thing that matters? No, of course not. But college recruiters and coaches don’t have unlimited time so they need some sort of filter to pick and choose what they pay attention to. League is one of those filters. It is known and it is obvious. Now, will a college recruiter go watch a team that performs poorly in a top league? Likely not unless they know and respect the coach and that coach has recommended a player(s), and even more likely if they are already at an event that has other high quality teams with high quality players. The logistics make it easier.

Anyhow, let people rant and pontificate all they want, as this is an open blog site (mostly) and occasionally there are some good nuggets in this sea of unsupported opinions.

Who is they. Veo was everywhere at Jeff Cup. Game film is way too important. Especially now

but YOU don't have the film.

Yes. I do have the film. I have every single game my kid played this year. Every game is uploaded into a online database that we pay collectively to have access to...it’s called spreading the cost. Your club should try it.

Right here:

2007 Top Division (2 GA, 5 ECNL, 1 EDP)
Champion
Loudoun (ECNL)

Typed it on purpose aaaaaaaaaaaand you took the bait.

Now answer: besides that 07 group which is mostly successful because they’re close friends and have been together for a while, what else can you brag about?

Again, why are you so vested in belittling Loudoun? You’re obsessed. It’s kinda sad.

Aaaaaand you’re a loser. It’s not bragging. You asked a question and the pp responded with a factual answer.

Anonymous wrote:Here is a summary of the Girls results for the better teams at Jeff Cup. Some ages I went three deep. GA could have better numbers if I went 4, 5, and 6 divisions deep but when debating the top clubs/teams in the area, I don't think you really need to go past 3 divisions. Regardless, these are the final statistics.

All team affiliations U11 through U17 and U18/19 in the below Divisions that I included.
40 Total Girls Academy Teams in the Divisions I list below.
82 Total Girls ECNL Teams
22 Total Girls EDP Teams
6 Total Girls CCL Teams
5 Total Girls from other Leagues.
***Arlington was included with GA for this as well as SOCA***

Division Champions (Top 2 and Top 3 depending on how many divisions/teams total)
ECNL Champions 15 Total
GA Champions 2 Total
CCL Champions 1 Total
Bethesda won the most Championship finals with a total of four. Richmond and NCFC came in 2nd with two.

Division Runner Ups
ECNL 12 Total
GA 4 Total
EDP 2 Total
CCL 1 Total
Both Pipeline and Arlington were runner-ups twice however Pipeline did win the U19 Division.

Championship Appearances (Including Ties)
ECNL 29 Total
GA 6 Total
CCL 2 Total
EDP 1 Total
ECNL outpaced other leagues by a large amount even when factoring that it entered 2x the amount of teams. I wish I could post a dot plot graph to show you how lopsided this is. By the numbers you would expect ECNL to place in the finals by a rate of 2x but they actually placed by a rate of almost 5x. EDP actually had the worst showing. Herndon and Beach represented the CCL extremely well at Jeff Cup this year and shouldn't go unnoticed based on the numbers.

Data used to compile verdict:

2010 Top Division (4 Future GA, 3 Future ECNL, and 1 EDP)
Champion
Bethesda (ECNL)
Runner Up
Pipeline (ECNL)

2009 Top Division (3 Future GA, 4 Future ECNL, and 1 EDP)

If SOCA is GA then Arlington is ECNL. Right? Can’t have it both ways

I notice no Arlington teams past 2008. It’s usually how it tracks.

I’m not from Loudoun and even I know that’s not true.
It’s because that is no external pull.
