My son plays there, and my issue with it is not volunteering or the cost. I feel that there is an inherent lack of organizational discipline at the practices. He used to play for Arlington, but for reasons personal to our family situation, that location no longer worked, so we moved over. There's a lot of talented kids at both clubs, but the coaches at Arlington were stricter and demanded more out of the kids physically at the practices.

My daughter plays there for 5 years now and never once was I required nor have I have ever felt obligated or even asked to volunteer. On the contrary, I got an email asking for Alexandria players that want to work the tournaments and get paid. Furthermore, along with Alexandria sponsored tournaments her team typically participates in at least 3 other outside tournaments per year at a minimum. Add in the fact she plays both CCL and EDP leagues and quite frankly its a really good value for the cost. Which by the way is no more expensive than any other club in the area. All tournament fees both Alexandria tournaments and outside tournaments are factored into that cost, no additional out of pocket money like other clubs charge. Including no cost for Coach travel which we experienced at her prior club.

False. Nobody is compelled to volunteer, some teams play at other tournaments (including Jeff Cup and Bethesda Premier Cup), and instead of doing more than four tourneys a year, top teams at older ages play in multiple leagues. Nobody is crying about not playing more tourneys except other clubs which apparently want more clubs to play in their tourneys. Other tourneys are perhaps $100 per kid - you really think anybody is getting rich by not sending their team to more tourneys? You really think multiple families want to spend still more money on travel and hotels to Richmond or elsewhere to play if the competition is comparable or worse than what top teams play in this area or via MLS Next or Acela? Nope.

My son is playing there now. Maybe I’m a deadbeat- but I’ve never been asked to volunteer.

I like tournaments closer to home—but he has also played in some of the ones mentioned above too.

They run a great Futsal program—a lot of the draw for my kid that loves Futsal.

No. They sell you BS. You pay a ton of money and get excuses. It’s all about lining Tommy’s pockets. A sucker is born every minute.

I think people hate Alexandria, because their kid didn't make the top team there, Alexandria isn't in ECNL, and they get beat by them. We got beat by them last time we played them. I actually spoke to some of their parents after the game. Yes, I know that is very taboo for many of you. They were very nice and we just discussed kids playing soccer. Imagine that.
