Sometimes, people don’t cheat because they’re not happy with their partner, they cheat because they’re unhappy with themselves. The urge to cheat mirrors the urge to change their sense of self.

This explains why many people, men and women alike, cheat with people who’re “below” their partner’s level, whether by looks, education, intellect, and so on. They’re not really looking for a happy relationship, they’re just trying to make themselves feel better.

Not true. There are scientific studies on hip to waist ratio and facial symmetry that hold up across different races/ethnic groups.

Yes, add that to the douche thread. Not only can we disparage women for being “unattractive” (whatever that means), we can shame them too for being susceptible to the overtures of a someone who turns out to be an opportunistic player.

I don’t think so. The women I know who cheated married out of their league looks-wise. My theory is that once their marriage dies or their husband (or wife) stops caring about them or noticing them they get with the first person who shows them interest, and this goes for attractive and unattractive people. I know a woman who says part of the reason so was ripe for cheating was because the other man noticed when she got a haircut or when she wore a new outfit. She felt desired again. I think married people become invisible to each other after awhile.


It's both of these. Married people who stop seducing and sleeping with their spouses are asking to be cheated on. And married men give attention to average looking women they wouldn't normally hit on if single.

The number of women a man would sleep with is way, way higher than the number a man would date

I have never seen this scenario. Ever. It’s usually women trying to exit into a better financial picture/lifestyle. They are generally less attractive because the guy they met young wasn’t as desirable. I have never seen a woman with a highly/attractive desirable, good earner cheat.

This is exactly what I was going to say. Symmetry and facial measurements, etc. really cannot sum up attractiveness. It is truly in the eye of the beholder.
