I’ve been to lots of outdoor parties and they have gone well.

10 yo son had his best friend over for his birthday last month. She lives across the street from us and we've formed a support bubble with her family since the start of the pandemic. It was a small outdoor party, masks were worn and food and plates were not shared. He did give her a hug after opening the present she got for him. And she gave him a piggy back ride while they were playing after they'd had food, which admittedly was a risk, but thankfully no one got sick. It's Larla's 10th birthday next month and we're doing the same for her. Both of our families are vaccinated now, so it should be okay.

Yup. Our youngest is turning 10. We’re having a birthday party. Family and close friends are coming. Indoors, no masks. Only some of us are vaccinated.

yes. having a masked easter egg hunt next week with 6 kids. no food served but champagne toast for parents on the way out.

NP. The fact that no one at your 20 person party got sick is not an argument for having indoors unmasked parties. You still made an irresponsible choice as did all your party attendees. You got lucky no one got sick, it’s not an endorsement for the safety of indoor parties.

We had an outdoor party with food. It was small enough that I know the situation of most of my friends.. I know they are all being pretty cautious and many are tested regularly for work. We kept it small and served food.
Everyone came and had a great time. Everyone had their masks on except when eating. I wouldn't have felt as comfortable if I didn't know everyone so well. And yes it is a risk but we decided it was worth taking.. Everyone has to make the best choice they can right now.

DH and I are vaccinated and we're living "like normal" in that we're seeing people who are also vaccinated (indoors, no masks as well as some who are vaccinated and prefer outdoors with masks - totally depends on the person and we respect it all). We still wear masks when we go out in general and hell, I double mask in busy situations (e.g. Target, its never not busy in my Target and everyone spends hours in there so yeah, I'm double masking it). DC isn't vaccinated and I don't want them to get it and I don't want a variant.

You do you OP. I like that you are sending them home with food but outdoors with masks is fine. We've been doing that for months.

Yes, this has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with criminal: indoor parties without masks?

Outdoor parties if people eat carefully distanced from each other: iffy, because you know someone is not going to comply with that.

Outdoor parties with masks and people go home with food: GREAT. Good job, OP.

Both my kids have attended outdoor and masked parties since the fall. We consider this a very safe way to have fun.

Note we haven’t dined indoors or let our kids play indoors at anyone else’s house, so we are cautious. A masked outside party is fine!
