Subject: Beauvoir or NPS?
OP, for K-3, there is no real reason to think NPS is stronger or weaker than BVR in academics.
ppl look at facilities, community, and outplacement. For outplacement, if you don't mind single-sex schools, the chance of getting into a big 3/5 is 50% lower in NPS vs. BVR.
If you strongly dislike single-sex schools, neither of them look that promising.

Sorry I should have made it clear that I'm not OP. I'm just someone who is interested in NPS, and wants to know parents' feedback on their math teaching.

At all. They both are good. You want shiny, k-3, better facilities and so called magical, go BVR. You want k-6, good academics and warm community, go NPS. Outplacement is the same.

How can a parent of a 3-4 year old child possibly know if this child will be a “good fit” for STA/ NCS down the road? I thought that at the time my DC was that age and could not have been more wrong. What you are really saying is if you think your family is a good fit for the NCS/ STA community
And even then, unless it's way off, it's more about the class/bvr group than classes and families five or more classes ahead.

That's fair enough. And could it be devastating for a kid who wants to stay on and isn't invited to? I find that aspect of the Beauvoir to NCS/STA feeder a little cringey.
Once again I think you mean devastating to mama and daddy. A third grader should not be “ devastated” over school placement under any circumstances

I'm very sorry about your friend and would agree to stay on top of your child's progress wherever you go. However, it's important to note that this is the exception, not the rule. Roughly 90% of bvr kids go on to attend sta/ncs.
That's not quite accurate. 90 percent of Beauvoir kids who APPLY to Cathedral schools are accepted. About 15-20 kids go elsewhere (out of about 80-84), meaning roughly 20 to 25 percent of the class does not attend the Cathedral schools. Some of those have no interest and some aren't accepted.

Beauvoir was an amazing experience for three children with different personalities. Strong, developmentally appropriate curriculum without pressure or excessive and unnecessary homework. Good math curriculum that has been adapted from Singapore Math and other math-teaching approaches, but is tied to Commom Core curriculum. Fun science classes, emphasis on music, art, PE. 1:10 teacher ratio, with two teachers in every classroom.
Plenty of play time, creativity, and a joyful learning environment. The best playground of any NW private school. Sunlit classrooms. Olmstead Woods right next door. The current HOS is kind and competent.
My kids still talk about how much they loved Beauvoir. It was a great way to start their education. Beauvoir made learning fun, setting up a positive relationship to learning. Worth every penny.
You forgot to remind us that it's "magical."

I say choose what’s best for your family. Both are really good schools.
