Meh, that's my home state and based on what I'm hearing from folks there and doing my own sleuthing for myself, there's plenty of demand in NC. Also Virginia has already opened registration to under 65 with UHC, whereas NC doesn't open it to those folks until next week.

People with underlying conditions can get vaccinated in North Carolina starting tomorrow. Things started out slowly here but seem to be moving along okay. A lot of people went to SC in the beginning.

+1. Another one that is last on the list. I work for a manufacturing company, but as a lobbyist, so I don't feel comfortable claiming that spot given I still work from home.

I would not be against traveling to get a shot in a nearby state that has loosened its criteria so that I am eligible.

I get where you're coming from, but at this point, I'd just get in now before the flood gates open. I'm eligible, but don't consider my risks that high. I signed up on the Fairfax waitlist the other day, because the tier has been open for 6 weeks now. I'm not vaccine hunting, just waiting for my number to get called. I figure I'll get an appointment by late-April, about a week or two before it's available to the general population.

+1. There are 270K or so adults who are eligible for the vaccines. About 20% of them will likely not get it, at least in the next few months. They are hitting 3 million shots a day, and looks like they will be able to increase that in the coming weeks. I think there is a good chance those who want it will get at least the first shot in May, possibly June.

Obvi meant 270 million not thousand.

I'm waiting, within reason. I'm in Va and the Dr. Avula has said that he thinks that all who want a vaccine can get at least a first dose by the end of May. So I can wait for that, if it opens up everywhere and there are excess doses somewhere other than fairfax county, and the county is going to take longer than early June for me to get an appointment, then I'll hunt something down.

So no in person school until kids are vaccinated?

My plan was just to wait it out, but then I decided why not just get covid and get some antibodies in the meantime.

+1

Apart from eliminating your risk of severe disease or death?

I think she meant that she will continue to be conservative in order to protect her unvaccinated children, whether or not the adults are vaccinated.
