The only thing I can thing of is that God created humans in his image, therefore just like them he must have had his favorite kid.

Op are you referring to Gods relationship with the Jewish people? He established that bond as a means by which to reach out to humanity
He had to start somewhere, right?
But seriously, if he's omnipotent, you'd think he'd have a better plan.
This plan sounds like something Jews made up to make themselves feel special.
At the time, little did they know that the Catholics would come along and decree that Catholicism was the one true religion and start murdering the Jews like crazy, even though their savior was a Jew.
Who are we in humanity to say it's not a good plan? God's timing is not our timing. And yes, to the PP, Christians also recognize that God offered Himself to be known to all people but it was the Jewish people who chose Him first.

Umm... God created people no? Why ne needed to reach to them? And why not to reach to every other bunch in other corners of the Earth? Cause you know.. back then people did not exactly traveled that much.
And they all were on the same stage of development for the most part.
According to the midrash G-d DID offer the Torah to all the nations of the world and the Jews were the only ones that accepted it.
