To be honest, once we get the adult population vaccinated this spring/summer (and that includes half of the HS-aged crowd), then we're down to considering COVID's risk specific to children. I'm sure there has been plenty of research done to compare COVID hospitalization and mortality rates for this age group vs. those of the common influenza. And then weigh that research against the effects of keeping things hybrid/concurrent. I sincerely doubt that the likely small differential in health outcomes warrants mortgaging millions of children's mental health and academic progress. This is the decision for the fall.

There is no doubt in my mind that come the summer, when most adults are vaccinated, that almost all schools will be pressured to open FT. I have 2 kids that are my world and understand/respect other's decisions, but feel school will be safe for them and they need FT for their social/mental health along with education.

For those that still are not comfortable, there is the remote option, which I hope will be more robust than what we've been dealing with for a year.
