Subject: Off leash dog
Call animal control. Tell them there is a stray dog roaming the neighborhood. They will come pick it up, hold it for a few days, then put it up for adoption when the owners don’t come looking for it. Problem solved.

Just call animal control. They will ship up when they have to pay the fine!

You are well within your right, OP. I agree with the call to animal control.
My ex did this and it drove me crazy. Twice I received a notice that the dog had been found, he was called in when just walking the neighborhood alone.
Everyone knew it was his dog. It also started bad behavior in the neighborhood — others got lazy. Poop wars galore.

I plan to this weekend. I wanted to see if i was way off base here or it is reasonable that a dog shouldn't run free around neighborhoods with no owner in sight. I wanted to clarify that i will call animal control if it happens again but didn't know if that was too harsh.
I am the one who said I'd pepper spray it if it came running up to my kids after a "friendly" off leash dog attacked/ bit my 4 year old multiple times when he walked past it on the sidewalk. "Oh I can't believe this!! This has NEVER happened before!" Well, now nothing like that will ever happen again, because I have pepper spray. I don't think animal control is too harsh.

That dog will get run over by the end of the summer most likely. Which is really sad.
