I think that you could always try to switch back to hybrid. The schools can only plan for what they have. With so many opting out is created much more flexibility.

No she’s saying it’s not fair that people who picked 2 day hybrid could now get 4 days since she’d have picked it if she knew it would escalate to 4 days. Of course this is schroedingers selection because had all the parents picked hybrid then it wouldn’t be possible to do 4 days now. But we can’t move to the 4 days we can do with these numbers because then the people who didn’t select it want in the pool.

They are already sliding kids into 4 day who ask on the secondary level. My child is one of them.

Furthermore I know for an absolute fact this is being discussed to expand hybrid for those who chose it. It was very clearly stated that you could choose hybrid and slide back to DL, but not the other way around, though I will say principals are being flexible when they can.

You had to have known going into this that things are constantly changing? Just like I know having a kid who is now in the building 4 days days week, in 2 weeks time he could be back home. Only constant here is change.

I’m a teacher. What your school allowed your kid won’t apply everywhere. Not all kids have IEPs. Not all schools have space to let kids come 4 days. If you asked and got it, great, but that’s not a universal and I don’t think we can say for sure that hybrid will expand to 4 day without a reselect because of space issues. So far no kid at my school is coming 4 days.

My kid is a straight A student and in APs. No IEP here. I know doe a fact that there are others. Your principal just must not be flexible or you teach elementary.

Not a single secondary school in LCPS doesn't hVe capacity for additional days.

Or maybe their parents didn’t ask. Because nobody told them if they ask they can just get 4 days. Has nothing to do with my principal.

It has everything to do with your principal. Have you spoken to every principal in Loudoun. Be happy for your kid but stop spreading rumors as fact.

Wtf? Some random mom who asked for and got 4 days for her kid at her school and claims it will work for every parent and kid who tries at every school and I’m the one spreading rumors? I literally work IN THE SCHOOL. my principal is great. What worked for this particular anonymous parent isn’t going to work across all of Loudoun.

Except, this:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/wtop.com/loudoun-county/2021/03/loudoun-co-superintendent-weighs-4-day-hybrid-plans-in-person-graduation/amp/

Please don't start accusing "some random mom" if you don't want to be called "some random employee" claimed this.

That isn't why a reselect won't be happening. It won't be happening because the county drags it out take to long. They have to "make the form, give parents two weeks to respond, then redo the schedules (not true), then send to transportation and it will take too long."

That is the lame excuse he gave last night anyway.

Actually the poster was spot on.

Not only is it highly likely to start q4 , there will NOT be a re-select

I'm also lcps staff that long before today's board meeting knows doe a fact this had already been in the works behind closed doors. We've been preparing. I'll also say nobody has been discouraged from allowing for 4 day flexibility now for the current secondary hybrid kids and I'll leave it at that.

None of what you said disagrees with what I posted. It is all at YOUR school. This is varying from school to school to classes even. What one mom was able to get her kid at her school doesn’t mean everyone can if they ask. Clearly there is a desire for 4 day that schools want to honor if possible. Some can and some can’t. Classes at independence could go up to 20 kids. Some classes at other schools would get only up to 6-7.

Are you sitting in the meetings with Dr Z?

The analysis of how many kids under the current hybrid model in secondary could go 4 days a week has been completed. This is why a re-select won't be happening.

Not until 3/23 from what I’ve seen. If it happens at all it wouldn’t be until Q4. Q3 ends the week after spring break.

I think you misread my post. I'm agreeing with you. Everyone can't just call up and ask for 4 days and get it.

I don't know what they are voting on since some kids have already slid into 4 days. The individual schools actually have more autonomy than people realize

.

If they vote on it, schools MUST allow it. Not at principal discretion or “ space-allowed” That’s the difference.
