Yes spaying and neutering are very different levels of surgery. Spaying is way worse.

Neutering is way different. I don't think you need to keep your corgi calm and quiet past the first day!

Our one year old dog was neutered today. I have pain meds for three days but I think it will be hard to keep him occupied with no running or jumping for 1 week, let alone two. He is quiet now but still walking around a lot. Do calming medications help?

This isn't my first dog but I haven't had a puppy in a while. And I came from a rural area where... well, to put in one way: people spent a lot less money on pets. My memory of getting dogs spayed 20 years ago was that it wasn't a big deal... and all my dogs turned out totally fine.
Am I misremembering? is this a difference in recommendations between an area that can pay/will follow up on medical care and one that can't? Should I use trazodone twice a day for 10 days?
Trazodone for a week after pain meds, then stitches come off, and back to normal.

We spayed our 1 year old dog recently. Paid for laparoscopic approach so smaller incisions.
The vet surgeon sent us home with pain meds and sedatives. We kept her pretty calm for about 5 days.

OP here: today is day 3, and our pup seems to be back to normal, so will not give pain medication. We got only for two days FWIW, and I have the last dose which I will give at night. Trying (and it’s hard) to keep her from climbing the sofa and running around. Did you let your dog climb the sofa once they could or kept them restrained?
