Fwiw we have no messages about windows being open in our class, though there is the possibility of outdoor lunch. We walk to school so already bundled. But sparkly dress isn’t a fight i take on. I do insist on it being over things if it’s cold. As long as the teacher doesn’t mind, she could go in the princess warrior dragon costume or a onesie with tap shoes as far as I’m concerned

In Arlington unless the wind chill is below 32 lunch + recess (65 mins for elementary) will be outside and we also got a direct message that windows will be open as often as possible.

We got that message too but I know for a fact kids have not gone out all three days. Many teachers posting to their social about kids not being adequately dressed for the cold/wind.

The teachers need to stay in their lane. Don’t tell my kid he can’t go outside because he will be cold in just his sweatshirt when it’s 43 degrees and sunny. That’s what he wears outside at home, he boils in a jacket when it’s above freezing. You do your job and I’ll do mine. Don’t cancel recess because my kid isn’t cold enough to want a coat.

Nope, the teacher is in the wrong. She shouldn't have kept the whole class inside because of one spoiled brat.

Instead of punishing the kids who did dress appropriately, the school should just send them outside and the kid who gets cold will wear warmer clothes the next day.

My child's teacher has not said a word about how my child is dressed. If and when she does, happy to listen. Anonymous internet person who may or may not be a teacher, not so much.

OP, why don't you identify your role in this, instead of just sounding like a busy-body.

That's a poor decision on the teacher's part. Send them all out. If they're cold they will learn to wear more the next day.

Not a ticket decision, a school decision.

I’m in Arlington. It’s really school dependent. For instance the windows in our school don’t open.

There is no option to keep them in, but I am sure no one wants to hear their crying and carrying on the entire time too.

+1 I wear hat, gloves and coat. My 7 yo is in long sleeve and leggings sometimes gloves and that's it. It's her choice. She tells me she doesn't get cold. I don't fight her on it. Out of all the hills I will die on on any given day with this kid how she dresses isn't one.

You're missing the point. Take it up with the school. This is a school not a parent issue. Kids can dress as they please.

Our school would keep kids inside if they wore shorts below a certain degree but the rest of the class went out.
