Am I about to ask any douche bag bicyclist (that is a misnomer, any bicyclist with a bike that expensive is a douche bag and danger to all of us in traffic) if they stole and start an amber bike alert?

OP is making a point about the uptick in crime. Seems crystal clear.
Not to me! Some bikes got stolen, surely there are more outrageous criminal acts happening? But, wait, dcum should know that their fav fancy bike shop got two bikes stolen and that they cost more than most people can afford to pay for a car in many parts of DC? Where is my daily dose of Anacostia crime reporting on dcum? Not in sight!

How is the bike a danger to you in a car? In the one bike accident I got into (an Uber driver hit me while I was in a bike lane), there was minor damage to his side mirror, and he was totally fine.

If you can afford a $8,000 bike you don’t need to pedal it to work unless you just want to.

A store salesperson told FOX 5 that their security cameras captured the thieves stealing a Levo SL Carbon eBike worth $8,000 and a Levo Expert Carbon bike worth $11,000 from their store in the 4800 block of Wisconsin Avenue around noon on Thursday.
So, a new e-bike can cost $8,000.
In contrast, the estimated average transaction price for a light vehicle in the United States (according to Kelley Blue Book) was $38,378 in July 2020.
In other words, you can buy almost 5 new e-bikes for the same money as 1 new light vehicle.
We would need 5 to be able to transport my family.
