Excuse her. This is the kind of rude people you will see here, you may even understand why your son is missing his former city.

Unfortunately, there are very few good options for skateboarders in NW DC. My son is one of them and he used to go to Arlington before the pandemic.

Kids skate at AU Park on their grounds -- either up at the law school in Tenleytown or at the main campus on Mass Ave.

My kid and his friend ride their bikes on the capital crescent Trail from Chevy chase to the bridge over the Potomac. They get off there and then go to the Palisades skate park. They have their boards in their backpacks. DS says it’s a little park, but something he and his buddies can go to on their own.

This. Downtown DC near the White House. I never see kids skating in Tenleytown.


Freedom Park is NOT a skateboard park. Kids are not supposed to skate there, and can be ticketed if they do.

There is a good size skate park in Kensington on Summit Ave. I always see lots of older kids there,

The amazing skatepark in Arlington is called Powhatan Springs skate park. The Shaw skatepark in dc will reopen in late August after a full redesign. Other good ones are Sunnysidea, Melrose and a smaller one in Takoma Park.

Have him ride the L8 bus from Friendship Heights to the town of Kensington and walk two blocks to the informal skate park behind the housing opportunities commission building. Number 34 bus will also take him right to the skate park. But you might want to drive him up the first few times to make sure you’re comfortable with the environment.

There's a skate park near RFK, there's one near Langdon Rec center in NE, and there's one in Shaw on 11th St. NW (this is the one my son used to go to).

Olney Maryland has a skate park. We haven’t been but my friend said there are kids of all ages who are kind go each other
