Honda Accord, if you do not want to go the convertible/porche route.

We rent a minivan only on the rare occasions we need it.

I adored my ‘05 Odyssey, which my teens now drive. They prefer it to DH’s ‘13 Subaru, which they feel is low and sort of heavy. I have a new RAV-4 hybrid, and am on my way to loving it as much as the minivan. Plus, it’s amazing to gas up and see that you have 470+ miles remaining until you need to gas up again. Everyone I know with the CRV hybrid loves it as well.

Current 2006 minivan owner here. Carpooling was big for me when the teens were in middle and high school. I always volunteered to drive a group, teen girls talk and talk and you get to hear everything, plus you can verify a location.

Now, we host the family events. We can provide airport pick up and drop offs for groups, and seat 7 comfortably with luggage. College drop and pick up is easy in a minivan because everything fits.

On my way to 300K miles.

I loooved my Subaru Outback when my 3 were little. Alas, we had a fourth so switched to a minivan (Odyssey). If you love your minivan, you will love the Outback. Huge trunk for groceries!

What comes after a minivan?

In my personal dream world? A beautiful, high-powered, luxury sedan or sportscar that my little rugrats are NEVER allowed to ride in.

In all seriousness, though, OP, maybe a full size sedan. If you're still hauling middle and high schoolers to events and sports, you'll want some trunk space. But you'll enjoy not having to drive and park some massive beast of a vehicle anymore, so don't just buy some huge SUV.

For the past seven years, with my kids growing up I have had a Sienna and absolutely loved it. Everything fit easily, it was comfortable, could haul any amount of people and their gear plus the dog. Love it. My oldest is getting her license soon and she'll get the minivan as a primary vehicle. So I get a new car! My youngest is starting middle school, so I still have some years of hauling kids, but we'll still have the minivan in the family when needed.

What kind of car do I get for daily use? If we ever go back to the office, I will have a crappy commute downtown. But other than that, it would be just regular errands and groceries, etc. Do I buy a sedan like an accord or prius? To I get a smaller SUV like a RAV-4?

Since you bought a minivan to begin with there is several strikes against you. You can just accept your life as it is. Or buy a fun car and realize we are all going to die eventually.

PP: "Hey, look a thread with 'minivan' in the title! I think minivans are a sign of a sad, pathetic life, let me click on it and take the time to be snide and unpleasant to someone without providing any useful or helpful information. I bet everyone will think I'm cool and fun and making the most of life before I die."

I mean, really. We finally get an OP around here who's nice, has a reasonable question, doesn't mention her HHI, is not a troll, and doesn't require Jeff to intervene, and you've got to DCUM it up in here.

Get a Jeep so your teen DD will want to switch with you.

Three out of the four cars I've owned have been sedans. We only have two kids, no need for two big vehicles with low fuel economy. First Accord was still going strong when I traded it in for the second one, just wanted something with more modern safety and convenience features. Judging by what I see parked up and down my block, this isn't terribly uncommon.

Odyssey then CRV here - I never want a low car again, not even a sedan. I want to be up high!

Two kids are grown and we never owned a minivan. Fan of the sedan.
