You need to open your mind if you are going to watch travel shows.

Rabbit is actually delicious.

He is also getting a lot of attention and admiration because of his bartender skills

Agree. The scenery is gorgeous and the food looks incredible, but he's so flat and charmless, which is shocking to me.

I totally agree. He has no personality on this tour but the food, scenery and tour of Italy is fantastic. I just wish he wasn’t so dry and boring.

I totally disagree. I can't describe why but I find him really charming. He seems very real. I think it might stem from being Italian American myself, and hearing him talk about his family experiences, etc that I relate to.

I agree with you.

I read this thread before we watched the show, so I had low expectations. Saw two episodes last night - Calabria and Lazio episodes. I thought it was a fantastic show - gorgeously shot, interesting history of the regions and food, and I was impressed by his Italian. We are addicted and now will watch this every night. He went to some really cool places - Ischia for the rabbit meal, the Roma settlement & restaurant on the outskirts of Rome, etc.

OMG, and how much does his wife look like Emily Blunt?!? Totally crazy.

I also love his sense of style. He is impeccably tailored.

Why is that totally crazy? They are sisters after all.

He was a guido in the 80s? Looks like the dudes I would see at Sound Factory.

I didn't realize he was straight.

He had a 2-year affair with Edie Falco before going back to his first wife and kids. That first wife passed away from cancer 7 years after reconciling and he's still shook up by it. He mentions it a lot in interviews, the grief.

He was introduced to Emily Blunt's sister, Felicity, at Emily's wedding and they hit it off and married. He had 3 kids with first wife and I think 2 with Felicity.

+3. We are enjoying the show because it's as close as we can get to Italy right now, but he's not the greatest host. Same with the show Lorraine Bracco did about buying a house in Italy. I just couldn't relate to her, but loved the house and the story.
