We skip specials and ST Math every day.

Have specials teachers noticed a lot of kids missing from their classes or do they just not give AF?

Can you work with her on the weekends to make up the work? You could prioritize reading and math and fit in whatever else you can do. DL also doesn’t work for my daughter, but I know she does need to learn the material.

+1. You should at least try to make an effort on weekend mornings or something.

Yes we read a lot together and she can read simple books in her own. She WILL NOT watch the iPad. It’s more important that I keep a roof over our heads. Keeping fingers crossed for this hybrid nonsense to begin and then actual 5 day school next year.

NP. Because she wants to. None of your business “why.”

Frequently. Don’t care.

1 day. We closed on a house in another city, had to drive to the closing.

FCPS—My first grader pops in two or so times a week to morning meeting. That’s it. She also got all 4s in the specials classes which she doesn’t attend. I have a million calls from the attendance line but no one has ever contacted us including her teacher to ask about the absences or to check on her. I hope they are only ignoring the missing middle class kids and following up on missing at risk kids.

I wouldn’t exactly say they “miss” it ... ever.

My twins have morning meeting followed by specials followed by an ST Math block. With the new bell schedule, the actual teaching part of the day (which is when they often log in) won’t start until 11:30. So ridiculous.

We also decided this was a great time to get private ST for one kid, allergy shots for another, and braces for the oldest. Might as well do those now rather than missing school in the future.

All the time. 2 Out of 3 dc skip every special once I saw how weak/lazy those were. One misses time every week for an allergy shot. There’s no school on Mondays at our school and no assigned work. They skip morning meeting frequently and just log in once the actual instruction begins. Or we get distracted and forget to sign back in.
All 3 skip the designated ST math and imagine learning blocks. The younger two are allowed to sign off at 3 even if the teacher is still talking. Have never made it to the 30 minutes called “closing circle”.

That’s on you. So, your kid will be 7 for k?

DP. No, she'll be 7 for 1st. That's not on anyone. It is what it is.

No, she needs to do K still.

Why are you peddling misinformation? K is optional in VA anyway.

Not often - but I would be ok with them missing a virtual day.

One time for a doctor appointment. Just an hour.
