OP - if you're that concerned about it, then perhaps you should consider waiting until your family has been vaccinated before sending your child to daycare. Nannies are eligible for vaccines now. If you are willing to pay a premium, you could probably find a vaccinated nanny.

This is not necessarily true. I think the vaccines haven’t been studied for stopping transmission, just whether it can prevent severe disease at this point. A lot of researchers are optimistic that it can stop transmission of the non-variant strains.

So yeah, it does make a difference.

You do realize that optimism is not fact, right? As stated, the guidance that medical professionals are currently providing says that getting the vaccine will protect you but not others. Even if your teacher gets the vaccine, it can still be passed on to non-vaccinated colleagues, parents, etc. Please continue to wear a mask and do your part to prevent the spread.

On my god. I wasn’t saying they people shouldn’t wear masks. I want to know what percentage of my kid’s teachers are vaccinated and somebody told me that it doesn’t matter because teachers can DEFINITELY still pass it along even if they are vaccinated. It matters. And people should still wear masks.

HIPAA does *not* cover school settings. It covers medical providers and prohibits them from unauthorized disclosure or release of medical records or information about patients. Always hilarious when people try to invoke HIPAA in other random, non-applicable situations. Children’s school information and records are subject to privacy under different laws that cover schools, such as FERPA.

Center owner here. We are requiring teachers to at least make a good-faith effort to get vaccinated, absent a medical reason not to. 90% of our staff have either received the first dose already, or have an appointment to get it next week. That being said, we can't disclose the vaccination status of any particular teacher to a client, since it's personal medical information. I guess they could ask the teacher directly, but I think it would be inappropriate to do so.

Not when it is approved under an EUA.

Many employers (including the military) are not mandating it (and mandating it raises some liability concerns), but what is your support for the notion that they cannot mandate it?
