HB has been (relatively) great for my 6th grader this year during this year of relative terrible stuff but fwiw I have heard lots of great stuff about all the other middle schools also, in particular, Swanson.

My child is on the waitlist for 6th grade at HB Woodlawn. Not surprisingly, her number is the same today as it was on the day the results came out. It does same updated 2/18, though. We have a neighbor who has a rising 9th grader and they have seen quite a bit of movement on the Tech waitlist.

DC moved up one spot today for HBW 9th grade so there is some movement.

It's also not by merit.

We are around #10 wait list for HB 6th grade. Is that our position on our elementary school allotment of slots to HB or is that our number for all waitlisted students?

There are only 3 or 4 slots available for each elementary (some more, some less depending on school population). So you would essentially need everyone who got in, and everyone before you on the waitlist to all decline.

The IB lottery is not by school.

Is this the case for all lotteries or just HB?

Can't speak to all lotteries but for HB it is definitely by school.

They did the "tour" virtually before the 22nd. They said maybe the kids will get to go in person in August.

Quite possible! I hear private and parochial school applications are up this year.

DC is a rising 6th grader. Has anyone from the 6th grade HB lottery waitlist been offered a spot? I know very few people actually turn down HB spots so it's unlikely that anyone gets off of the waitlist but still wondering if there has been any movement at the 6th grade level.

My DD received an offer for HB sometime last school year (fall I believe) but turned it down. We were totally surprised by it.
