The only people who need to like the way I look are me and my partner. I literally do not care what anyone else thinks about my looks. I don’t want or need attention and validation from others/strangers about my looks.

Yes! The pandemic took away my approachability. Which honestly, sometimes I don't actually want to chat it up at the airport or whatever with strangers but it actually has served me very,very well the vast majority of the time vs. being a nuissance. Now we all look like we have RBF. Which, to be fair, I think we are all tired and we kind of do have RBF and that's not anything to apologize for!


Yep. I would say I'm pretty average looking, but I'm charming. That's what I had going for me, and the pandemic took it away.

+1. I'm not model beautiful at all but just a reasonably attractive middle-aged AA woman who puts effort into my appearance. I regularly get complimented by all types of people.

I feel celebrated only because I've fine tuned my Instagram feed to focus on brands, fashion, art and influencers that focus on women of color. So while the mainstream might not celebrate us there's ways now to find positive and uplifting imagery.

+1 I think teens and 20-somethings are finding Asian women (and men) pretty darn attractive. Maybe a consequence of this whole K-Pop, K-Drama, and K-Beauty phenomenon?

What kind of compliments do you mean?

I don’t think people go around randomly complimenting people on their looks, no matter what color or race they are. Especially in the work place, where people have learned to be careful to avoid even the appearance of sexual harassment.
