I used to watch it near the beginning, but it competed with Community. BBT got to stay on (and on and on) but poor Community ended up on three separate platforms (and we still didn’t get the movie!).

You can watch Community on Netflix! And they’re way more self aware that BBT.

As far as science geeks go, it seemed fairly realistic to me. I work with a bunch of engineers. They aren’t known for their EQ.

That's honestly how I always interpreted it. That the guys are geniuses but socially inept, especially around women. They may be book smart but when it came to interpersonal relationships, they are clueless and continually screw it up.
