That’s not what I expect. My kid will have the same in person teacher and he plans to actually teach. Four days a week.

Why are you all surprised? COVID didn't just decide to leave. We are forcing "normalcy" in a whole pandemic. If you want your child to go back to in person learning, in a public school, then yes they will be in front of a screen the majority of the day. All of the things we did pre-COVID are prohibited now. Don't like it? Then stick with distance learning or go to a private school. I'm a teacher and a parent so I'm on both sides of the fence in this.

Teachers are not allowed to “mix” with no more than 2 cohorts unless they are servicing special education or English Language Learners in which they are allowed to “mix”
With 4 cohorts. Obviously this important caveat doesn’t jive with your mirage of what in person learning should be.

Yes and it makes total sense. A specials teacher rotating through all the classes would totally negate any benefit from having kids and teachers in cohorts.

Well if you were paying attention only those that are returning to in person learning are eligible for the vaccine. Sounds like a bunch of #alternativefacts you are spouting.....

Key, by far, has one of the most aggressive return to instruction models there are. DCPS currently allows 11 kids per cohort.

Pre pandemic there were 18 cohorts in PreK-5 with about 20 students each. Now, there are 44 cohorts with about 8-10 kids each. They would have added more if DCPS would allow.

They are bringing back a higher percentage of kids than any school in the district. As a parent with a kid in K and 2nd grade I am impressed with the level of engagement between staff and community. For you to complain, at this point, shows your privilege and/or incessant negativity.

If you have a problem with the reopening plan please consult
DCPS or CDC which has limited the number of in person spots.

They'll get to see their friends. They'll get outdoor time. They will have someone that isn't their parents managing their virtual learning so parents can go to/do their work.

Nobody's getting much better than that this school year.

Obviously didn’t understand the email and trying to cause trouble. Seriously, I think Key has the most robust back to school plan, with a majority of kids going in.

Nothing outrageous about educating kids in person during this pandemic. DC is one of the few places in the world where schools have been closed since March. That's what is outrageous.
