+1

We had to have a refresher course on how to take a shower.

+2

Also, their hormones can start to be influx so their bodies are producing more oil than usual giving that greasy hair look.

In addition to a lesson in how to really wash her hair, it sounds like the kid shampoo isn't cutting it anymore. DD uses one of the Organix shampoos -- tea tree oil, I believe. She has thin hair and this gets it clean without weighing it down.

Also, skip any of the 2 in 1 products. Those neither wash nor condition well. They're fine for occasional use, but don't do any good in the long term.

Another +1 for a tween who needs a refresher on washing and rinsing, especially if her hair is long. My DD is the same age and regularly hair is greasy and gross right at the back along the scalp the day after she showers. Along the hairline and the tips are clean, middle of her head either isn't washed well or rinsed well or both. In fact, it may be about time to do another tutorial in our house. Mine is one who sings in the shower and is in there forever and I think simply ends up distracted from the actual cleansing part of showering.

I nagged him to wash better, he insisted he was fine, and I knew he showered every day. Finally I took him to the kitchen sink and made him put his head under the faucet, and I washed his hair for him. Massaged the shampoo into his scalp, then rinsed fully. He was like "oh. No, I wasn't doing THAT."

Yep. This.

I posted a comment to a similar thread recently:

I have VERY oily hair, probably was even oilier in puberty, and I only recently discovered the ONE shampoo that gets me an extra day without shampooing.

It's pricey, but literally the only one that has ever allowed me to go more than 1.5 days without shampooing (okay, I'd almost always stretch that to two, but really could have used a shampoo by 1.5). Now I go 3 and my hair honestly doesn't even look bad the end of 3 days. It's definitely not just getting older (I'm 42!) because I first used it for a couple months and noticed the immediate reversion to oil slick as soon as I stopped.

It's this, from Lush. Not sure what ingredient is doing the magic, but I would love to find a cheaper alternative!
