Yes. Unless teachers are going back if the State BOE starts meeting in person, there is no reason to make that argument a central point. It sounds extremely childish in a letter that is all emotional with no substance whatsoever.

MCEA is there to represent the interests of its members -- teachers -- so of course they take that view. They are not there to represent students or parents.

Oh, and Washington County, MD is starting to take kids back in mid-February. Allegany County on 3/1. Garrett County will meet about reopening on 2/2.

unions protect the bottom feeders who are constantly filing grievances and fighting to protect those who are not doing their job well enough to remain employed.

Here is a link to a letter she sent to Dr. Salmon on November 24, asking the State to call for no in-person learning until after the holidays to eliminate stress on educators.

"Let’s work to destress an already stressful situation and, at the state level, declare
that schools will remain virtual through, at a minimum, the end of the semester.
Let’s get through the holiday season with clarity and consistency. Then based on
health metrics, whether schools are meeting health and safety protocols, and the
feasibility to begin transitioning to reopening systems to in-person, let’s reevaluate
plans so we can get to the goal we all share: in-person learning, when it is safe and
sustainable to do so."

There's no mention of the actual health and safety protocols being called for. In fact, it suggests that health and safety protocols were in place in the areas offering in person learning and that these could be assessed to see if they are being met.

If anyone can find links to specific demands, please post them.


Yup. No science or data. Just tears, anxiety and flat out refusal to do their jobs.
Teachers until you get this in check don't ever question why your profession has very little respect.

Yep and now it's in writing. Parents, I'm finally realizing I just need to bite the bullet and apply to our local Catholic school. My kids just aren't doing well, although we all started with the best of intentions and a great attitude this Fall. I don't even talk to them about when school *might* start anymore because I don't want to get their hopes up.


I have already told my kids that school will not reopen this year. My kids SO want to go back. Definitely a bummer for the kids.
