Workers in licensed day care and private school teachers are now in the next group.

Congratulations! Question: Did you have to say somewhere that you were going back in person? The DC Health guidelines state that the vaccines are only for those going back. I'm just wondering how they are confirming that.

Yes, my school submitted a list of teachers who have been coming into the building.

In our case, a building that hasn't had any children in it since March 2020 and will only have max of 40 students for the next few months. I feel badly for the grocery and day care workers who need to get in line behind the teachers at our school. In our case, teachers getting the vaccine doesn't really move the needle much on re-opening.

Thank you. I wish any of the ones getting in line now without intending to teach kids in person felt your sense of civic duty towards those identified as higher risk

My spouse works for a charter. Only those who are willing to go back once a week by late Feb are able to get the vaccine. If they get it, they have to go back. It will be once a week for the first month and then increase from there. They were supposed to be able to make appointments today but it wasn't working.

This simply isn’t possible. The appointments were never made available since One Medical never actually received the vaccines.

She lives in VA, teaches in DC. Told the class she made her vaccine appointment today. Not going back in person.

This is the issue, I think. Our charter teachers don't want to go back, according to the administration. So, they really shouldn't go to the front of the line if what they'll do is get vaccinated and then say they don't feel safe until kids are too, or whatever. And our schools leadership seems to be putting no pressure on teachers to consider coming back.
