I think they'll have some sort of season. It would be ridiculous if they were not able to do that.
We can't even get our special needs kids in self-contained classrooms back to school. Now way will the league happen. Many pools had time trials and swim team practice. That is what we're looking at again for the summer No organized meets.

+1. Maryland seems much more cautious than VA judging by how our year-round team has to go to VA to do any meets. Our MCSL team ran practices last summer and some time trials. I expect the same this year. The only option I see for dual meets would be virtual (each team swimming at their own pool and comparing times). I'm not sure all teams would even be able to do that. I don't see the big meets like relay carnival, coaches, and all-stars happening this summer,
Club teams have been running safe indoor meets for months. There is no good reason that they cannot run a safe outdoor meet. B meets may need to be limited in size, but the A meets can be run safely.
I don't disagree that it can be done, but one big difference is that club teams have automatic timing, which means one timer per lane as a back up is fine. Fitting three people in a seven foot wide lane is introducing close contact, and without three people, the times can't be official (at least for NVSL, not sure the other leagues). Does NVSL take the risk assuming people are getting vaccinated or change the rules so only one time is needed?

Our pool opened last summer so that should happen again and we had practice. Just really hope we don’t have to wear a mask from gate to table anymore!’
But there was no reason why not last year, and it didn’t happen. Our pool did not even open at all.
I really hope there’s a season this year, but kids will not be vaccinated.
