Like the Sutherland very much, but the kitchens in my life are in older, more traditional residences and have no room for an island. The Portrush is more modern and very dramatic and shown to best advantage on an island.

OP here, going with Sutherland. The Portrush is beautiful but a little too dramatic for me. Sutherland is still interesting, and I prefer the more overall veining and the slightly warmer tone. It also is considerably less expensive than Portrush.

We did Farrow & Ball Oval Room Blue on our island. It’s a beautiful light to medium blue with grey undertones (white cabinets on perimeter).

I really don’t like gray cabinets. I have never seen them look good.

We are in the process of a full renovation in our kitchen and I chose light gray cabinets. I love them and they match the rest of my house. I don't have any pictures yet as they are just going up today. I have chosen a white gray quartz counter and Im either going with white shiny subway large tiles or light gray. I use bright blue, teal and yellow as accent colors in the towels, flowers etc. I love the neutral gray better than a neutral white.

A house on my block for sale did blue custom cabinets. It made the kitchen seem smaller. Lots of negative feedback. The first thing the new owners did was paint them. I think it's risky. Now if you're going to be in house ten years I don't think it matters.
