Much to my dismay, even after the shooting incident in 2016 and the thorough debunking of the conspiracy theory, she still to this day believes there is merit to the story. And this relative is former partner of a prestigious law firm. She may have a high IQ, but she's dumb as f$%. I have no hope for any of these people. They have been brainwashed.
Is she a retired person? Maybe early-onset dementia?
No, she's still an attorney, just not with that firm and as far as I know has no issues with dementia. Her other relatives don't understand how she went down this path. I know she gets conspiracy theory junk in her newsfeed, but that does not explain why she was susceptible to believe it. The Pizzagate conspiracy is just the tip of the iceberg for her, she's also into QAnon. I really hate talking about this with her but it does come up from time to time at family gatherings. There's obviously others out there like her, so it's not a total shock to me that people are still protesting at Comet.

This is the restaurant that was the target of the Pizzagate conspiracy theory, which circulated online a few years ago claiming that Hillary Clinton was running a child sex ring out of it's basement. One of the many problems with this theory is that Comet doesn't have a basement.
In 2016, an armed man came into the restaurant while families were eating, people fled, and the man fired shots. Luckily no one was injured.
But why did they fixate on this place to begin with? I remember it being on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, but otherwise, it seems like such a random fixation.
Good question I have no idea
Because they ordered pizza via email from them and the emails were leaked. These whackos decided that ordering pizza was code for child sex slaves.
I wish I were kidding.
These are the same people who decided that since Wayfair sells cabinets that have names that might also be the names of children, there must be child sex slaves shipping inside the cabinets. They are not rational.
