And easier to tackle these issues in your 30s than your 40s and 50s. Focus on healthy food and some activity. Cut back on drinking (if you drink). Focus on portion control but don't starve yourself or cut out "bad" food. You can do this OP.

+1

I wouldn’t worry about the weight specifically but I would:
-Start a light/moderate exercise routine that you can continue during pregnancy
-Cut down significantly on inflammatory foods (sugar, dairy, gluten) and continue during pregnancy
-Check your thyroid - ideally your TSH is down around 1-2
-Take appropriate supplements
-Have your DH start supplements now to improve sperm health (takes 3 months to kick in)

Don’t take time off given your age, but start eating healthy and getting exercise while you do IVF and don’t use pregnancy as an excuse to eat anything you want.

I did IVF at 205 / 5’8” - but I only gained 13lb while pregnant. I was 190 when I got pregnant with my 2nd and gained 18lb that pregnancy. I had 2 full term, 7lb babies - same birth weight as both my husband and I. Both my kids are tall and slim, so please ignore the rude weight shaming poster.

FWIW - I lost weight after I stopped breastfeeding my 2nd and he started sleeping through the night.

I was too fat for my second pregnancy and I think that is what causes 1) me to go past dates 2) failed induction with #2 which resulted in a c section (which is supposed to not happen if you've had a vaginal birth before, which I did). #1 also had a scary low 1 min apgar score and I'm sure being fat didn't help.

Lower BMI also improves IVF outcome

The IVF meds alone will tend to cause weight gain so you could come out of the IVF cycle 5-10 pounds heavier than you are now

I would take time off to lose weight either now, or between retrieval and transfer

Move forward. The IVF process takes a few months, and sometimes can be complicated and take longer. Try to eat well throughout. Also safe to improve your diet in pregnancy, too. I was in a similar position and chose to move forward with ivf.

I wouldn’t unless that is something your doctor is pushing. I would focus on healthy diet (maybe consider some of the fertility diets out there) and being active and fit. Process can take a long time. Also if you are planning to do FET then you can still time transfer if you want to make some changes before becoming pregnant.

Don't take time off. As others have suggested, you can make small, incremental changes while prepping for your cycle, but move forward with your plan and if you lose weight along the way, bonus. I had so many cycles postponed or canceled due to cysts, weird lead follicle, overstimulation. I wish I had started at your age, since I didn't end up giving birth until my early 40s. Fwiw, I'm 5'2" and gained about 30 lbs from meds/hormones during my years of treatment, putting me well into the obese category, so I get where you're coming from.
