I would’ve felt quite justified in slamming on the gas pedal.

I have always maintained this. Your best defense against a handgun is your 4000 lb car.

Interestingly this past summer during the BLM protests quite a few of the protesters were indignant about being run over or nearly run over after trying to pull drivers out of cars or brandishing weapons on them. There was even a case in Georgetown.

Yeah that windshield will protect you from 16 bullets!

I don't think that you have fired a gun before. A 9mm bullet being fired from 100 ft, is no match for a 4000 lb car being accelerated to 30 mph.

But keep living your life according to Hollywood.

Yes, this is where peaceful permitted protest crosses the line to illegal, anti-social mob activity- like 1/6. Were they arrested and prosecuted?

That is a good question. I am actually not sure how the arrests worked out in the end. Were charges dropped? Were arraignments hearings had? Actually not sure.

So far we have restricted MPD riot control capacity...and then asked for them to conduct more riot control.

We have asked them not to pursue high speed chases...and then asked them to chase car jackers.

January 2021 seems to be setting up to be the payback for our rash 2020 decisions.

Well said.

A large portion of the crime in DC is perpetrated by youth. Yes, we need to continue to emphasize preventive social programs, education etc. However, that doesn't change the fact the youth pull job after job after job. The City Council/Charles Allen legislated leniency for crimes committed to age 26 this summer. With this years crime spike, are they going to apply similar brain power and passion to how to reform youth who commit these crimes while they are in the system/before they are released????????

Carjackings are considered violent crimes. Stealing a car is a property crime. Using force to take a car from another person is a violent crime.
