I don't know if my ES will let us switch but if they go back hybrid while numbers look like this I just won't send my kid into the building. They can't make you send your kid in. And the unexcused absence policy allows for a pretty high number of absences. But I suspect the school will allow a switch to DL before that happens.

Students learn best when they attend school regularly. Arlington Public Schools requires all students to attend all classes unless excused in writing by a parent/guardian or school official. Schools shall monitor and record the absences of all students. Excessive student absences (elementary school student –more than five days consecutively or 20 days cumulative; secondary students –10 days) will be addressed through parent conferences, home visits, attendance contracts and contact logs. The school division shall ensure that students who are at risk for dropping out shall participate in counseling and other dropout prevention initiatives.

Yeah I am feeling stunned.

I had picked hybrid but no longer feel comfortable and we’re just going to get reassigned and it’s done? Am I going to have to pull my kid and homeschool?

That's what the ATS principal said at the PTA meeting this week. No switching. Not pleased to hear that certain other schools are allowing it. Where is the CONSISTENCY of policies across schools? Ugh. APS you suck.

+1 Seems completely rushed and foolhardy. Now is not the time to be making this push. I am a parent btw.

It is now. APS is moving 3-5 to concurrent. 6-13!is concurrent as well.

It could be that holding off until everyone is vaccinated could actually save lives. I don’t get it. We’ve waited so long already and now that the vaccine is here, we have the opportunity to maximize safety, and we are...not taking it?

Interesting- Campbell staff hasn’t even heard the plan yet!

Interesting. We are at Ashlawn and haven’t heard anything yet. We also didn’t get our regular Friday evening email from the principal which I thought was a little odd especially since we have another supply pick up event on Monday that I almost forgot about (and I’m sure others have too).
