I live in Aspen Hill, would love to move to Olney if I could afford it! I think that OP may be comparing some of the more expensive homes in Aspen Hill with median homes in Olney.

Olney is always a solid choice. Great neighborhoods and good schools. The HS (Sherwood) has great programs but not too crazy competitive. Great school spirit with a huge sports culture. Lots of community engagement and no matter what your kid is like a student will be able to find his own kind- whether academically hardworking/overachievers, jocks, more artistic types, etc.

The only thing GC has better than SHS is better drugs.

MCPS is going to be facing so many challenges after being closed for an entire year. Plus the financial issues that are on the horizons.

At least in Olney, you have a solid option in Good Counsel, if you so choose for high school.

Or Sandy Spring Friends which is a better school.

I'm in Layhill/Aspen Hill.

Olney schools are not on the decline in the sense that it would affect housing prices. Here in my corner of the area it just seems like people want to pay higher prices for their homes.

And since we're all adding our two cents, lol...I like Olney, but it's a bit too far out for me.

I live in Aspen Hill and I feel the same way. I’d prefer Olney in a heartbeat.

I have not seen homes in Aspen Hill sell for that much higher than an Olney.
