Oh BTW there is such a thing as too much sleep. I poisoned myself with kiddie cough syrup at 6am. Clearly my parents were putting me to bed too early

To me, if they're hitting their milestones, not falling off their growth curve, they're cheerful and relatively compliant, not rubbing their eyes with dark circles, etc, then you just have a lower sleep needs baby

If it makes you feel any better it may be associated with high IQ

Daycare provider here. Giving up morning nap has ranged from 14 months to 20 months, with most of them around 15 months.

Yes - we used to have a nap 9-10 then 1-3. That lasted until about 12 months. At 12 months we just went 1-3. I miss that nap!

OP here! Granted it’s only been a couple of days, but he’s doing great. Isn’t fussy at all in the late morning and sleeping like a champ. It’s actually pushed his morning wake up time a bit later even.

I don’t know why I was anxious about this, I think it’s always a little scary to change their sleep schedules. But I appreciate all the feedback, I think you guys just gave me some courage to just go for it!

I will say dropping the AM nap was related to dropping the late morning nurse. My son would always fall asleep during that nurse.

We transitioned to 1 nap with my son at 14 months after he had been fighting the second nap for 1 month. Wish we had transitioned at 13 months.

With my daughter we'll probably transition around 12-13 months.

Most daycares drop the am nap around 12 mo. My oldest did at 13 mo and my youngest at 11 mo. It is fine.

Yes, DS at 12 months. Easy transition at daycare, took a week or so.

Did it for older kid at 12 months thanks to daycare and will do the same with younger kid when he turns 1 very soon as well

Yes, around 10 months she started fighting the morning nap, dropped it at around 11 months.
