Almost anyone can starve themselves down. Don't. Focus on being fit and athletic and the change in lifestyle will give you the results you are looking for without being unhealthy. Healthy slim people move a lot/walk and watch their intake and are thoughtful about the size & frequency of their indulgences.

Losing weight isn’t going to make the boobs/butt perky, the stomach flat, it isn’t going to reduce the wrinkles or smooth the skin. Isn’t that what the real goal is behind these “skinny” postings. Lose the weight if you can but the results aren’t going to be what you want.

You are not crazy overweight now and you might realize once you become really slim that it is not as satisfying as you hoped. If you really want to go that route, diet in a smart way. Moderate deficit + weightlifting. At 50+ you certainly do not want to risk losing any muscle mass.

I'm currently overweight but a strong 170 is my goal.

Yeah, water weight. Fat loss is not guaranteed without tracking calories.
160 pounds to 130 pounds.
Is that water weight?
On Maintenance right now.
People on Keto don’t count calories.
NP here. I agree that keto is a great way to lose real weight, but it’s most dramatically effective for people whose diets were carb heavy before (and I don’t mean bad carbs or whatever, I also mean people who eat steel cut oatmeal for breakfast and brown rice at lunch and rye bread with dinner).
It dramatically reduces your appetite so although you’re eating high calorie meals, you end up eating fewer calories overall because you’re not driven to eat as much — or as often, which in turn keeps your blood sugar levels lower for longer, the same secret that makes intermittent fasting so effective for weight loss and mood.
At this point, with all the studies in the NEJM etc showing that ketosis is a really good state to be in for cancer prevention and that sugar is bad for you and low carb diets are actually really healthy for you, I roll my eyes at naysayers in the same way I roll my eyes at anti vaxxers.
Anyway, been holding steady at a healthy BMI since i first tried keto in 2007!
