I wish they would have cast a better Daphne. She’s too plain.

I love seeing Nicola from Derry Girls!

+1 to this, but not so much because of her looks. She seems mismatched to the Duke. Unlike Outlander where Clair and Jamie seemed matched, Daphne seems more like a girl, rather than a woman. I didn't read the books though so maybe this is how the character is supposed to be.

You do, it's one of the books.

The shame of it is, after X character is revealed as Lady Whistledown, that's the end of her column in the books.

I wonder what they do with the infamous rape/nonconsensual scene.

I love the books so I'm afraid to watch the show.

If I am reading any romance novel I expect steamy passionate sex scenes.

Oh, I loved the books so much. "When He Was Wicked" has been my all time favorite. I thought of them as more romance and less period drama. The way the women behaved seemed more modern than was possible at that time.

Most grown-ups enjoy the steamy romance.

FTR, this series isn’t nearly as hot as the first season of Outlander.

Eh, it’s a Shonda Rhimes production ...

I read that Julian Fellows (Downton, Belgravia) defends only casting white people. This shows that a diverse cast in a period piece works!

New poster.

I STRONGLY recommend you stream the 2019 movie "The Personal History of David Copperfield" if you want to see colorblind castithat is so well done it...doesn't even draw attention to itself. It's a gorgeous film in every way -- the script, the cast, the visuals. I'm a big admirer of Dickens novels and think the casting is great. Dev Patel is David and there is a LOT of other colorblind casting. It. Doesn't. Matter. Maybe it helps that the style of the movie is such that it's got surreal touches, so it's not obviously going for any "we're accurately reproducing actual history here" vibe. It really is a lovely film and the performances are terrific.

Full disclosure, I haven't seen any of "Bridgerton" yet so this isn't a comment on that series or its casting. Just wanting to let people know about this film.

You can stream it legit but cheaply on Vudu. I'm becoming a big fan of Vudu-- you do NOT have to pay for a subscription but just pay per movie or TV show and it can be quite inexpensive!

+1, this is part of why I thought the book was weak. I love romance and there are so many better books that would make great shows.

I'm still going to watch the show, though. I couldn't watch the whole thing yesterday but I made sure to watch the first episode, I want Netflix to know people want more shows like this!

The pulling out was ridiculous. Sometimes the show is downright silly.

I spent the entire day alone on Christmas and binged the whole season.
