Are they open Christmas morning? I guess if you must have the most amazing croissants, you run around and get some Christmas Eve/ morning. I’ll enjoy my Trader Joe’s ones while actually being hone with my kids.

Nino’s Bakery has the best croissants that I’ve had in the area.

OP some posters are confused about the TJ's croissants.

There are two kinds:

Frozen full sized chocolate or almond (4 to a box) which you take out at night, set on a baking sheet lined with parchment, cover with another sheet of parchment, and let rise. When you wake up you bake them. You can brush with a little egg + water to make them golden brown, or not. They are perfect. They are rectangular/filled, not the triangular/roll shaped ones.


They have traditionally shaped plain ones also. These you do not have to let rise overnight and you can bake when you're ready. They are also kept in the freezer, and are maybe 8 to a box? You can also brush these with egg + water for more golden brown color.

Both are delicious. Freezer section where the breakfast goods are. If there are pre-baked ones in the bakery section, that is almost definitely NOT what PPs are talking about as the excellent ones!

Stale? They are frozen. I've already bought mine for next week.

We do these on Christmas morning, the chocolate croissants. They are really big! You take them out the night before, and let them sit at room temp on a baking sheet over night. Then pop them in the oven in the morning. Delicious! And if you are a family of 4, there are 4 which is perfect.

In a pandemic, where many things are closed or difficult to source, they are a good solid reliable.

Never seen croissants there. Are they in that bakery section with the cakes and stuff?

NP here. To be clear, I think PP is talking about the frozen chocolate or almond croissants that you proof overnight and bake yourself — not traditional bakery croissants.

They do not go stale, so PP is nuts. You keep them in the freezer until its time to use.

What? Just get the frozen ones. Put out to rise when you go to bed Christmas Eve. Smell them cooking while you open gifts. Then have mimosa and croissants.
