Where are you and what are your job duties making/paying $40/hr? No one in my neighborhood is paying that for 1 child. Hardly anyone even pays $25/hr.

She will tell you she understands and two weeks from now will give her notice. You should have saved for this since March. Inexcusable

Because she will be resentful. People remember their compensation. Regardless of position.

OP I would give her at least 2 weeks or the bonus you gave last year.

Why? Because no one had practice living in a pandemic. I definitely don't agree with going to weddings during one but people have different values than I do and what we're willing to give up sooner differs.

I can guarantee this year was more difficult for her because it was for all of us. How much money are we talking? Think about it. Do you want her resentful for the entire next year because of this?

$25 an hour is 2-3 times minimum wage. It is very generous.

Dc minimum wage is $15/hour. $25/hour is not even double.

Additionally, the average rate during covid seems to be around $25/hour for basic care.
