+1! I lived there for 3 years. Great area and a lot of trains to get around.

Somewhere between 4th and 14th street. Where exactly (East/West and how far each way) depends on where the work or school is.

What if your job was on the east side, near Gramercy/Murray Hill?

Easy Uber ride, especially with an unlimited budget.

Spoken like someone who has never lived in Manhattan. Often, traveling by car is the least convenient way to get around NYC.

I live in Manhattan.

NP. Then why are you suggesting someone use Uber for their commute?

Because it's what I do. Same deal with my fiance.

I lived in the West Village for years-- and my husband went to NYC years before I lived there, so we have a pretty good sense of what it was like between 15-30 years ago. It is NOTHING like that now. With the exception of a few surviving businesses like Three Lives and Li-Lac Chocolates, a lot of cheesy chain stores have moved in. It's so depressing. Maybe the East Village has fared better--the last time i was there was a year or so ago to have dinner at Prune. If had money and needed to leave in NYC, I'd look in Brooklyn TBH!
