There is nothing to do. This is the natural state that human boys are born in. If it required some complicated routine, then natural selection would have made humans evolve to be foreskin-less. You can stop worrying and freaking out.

If he has a lingering smell of urine he’s likely getting it on his clothes and underwear. Urine will burn if it sits on the skin for very long. You can teach him to take toilet paper and dry off the tip when he’s finished just to make certain there’s no accidental dripping.

Wait so which is it? If circumcised, should they just shake and blot or do they also need to retract when peeing?

No. An aggressive retraction is painful and it will cause a negative association with doctors. I would only recommend doing that if they are post pubertal and they have phimosis and a circumcision is being considered.

I had always read you were not supposed to then on a visit to our ped he did it. I asked why and he replied because he had seen adhesions. I still think he's was in the minority. We moved and don't see him anymore and my boys have their hands in their pants enough that they will figure it out.

My DD has labial adhesions, the family doctor gave her estrogen cream. A year later I see a youtube short of a pediatrician saying when they get the estrogen exposure at puberty it will fix the adhesions and topical estrogen can cause premature puberty. I have to wonder if many penis issues will be fixed at puberty with testosterone exposure.

I don't do anything special other than if there is a diaper blowout I give a proper wash with soap and water. My youngest has a smega pearl, Dr did not care at all. Neither DS 7 nor 2 are retractable yet.
