Have two boys. Decided to go for #3. We made sure we were 100% okay with a third boy. I got in my head that this one was a boy and was completely shocked it was a girl

Yes, I had two boys. Wanted three kids and hoped for a girl. Got a boy and a much harder baby than my first two. I was sad about not having a girl for awhile. I also struggled with a baby that didn't sleep and had tons of toddler tantrums. I am finally at peace with it but it took a while. I wish it weren't so. I wish I didn't care, but I did. Eventually I got to being happy about the way life worked out. My sister has only boys so I am sad not to have any little girls in my life. But, I have really enjoyed watching the boys play together, especially this year.

Ha ha ha. I worked with someone who had 6 boys before having a girl. He always joked that he doesn't recommend keeping trying until you get a girl. He had two more kids after that though (boy then girl, so 9 children total ).

Not in the US, but through work I came across someone who had 13 boys and the wife was pregnant with #14 and they were very clear they were chasing a girl.

I thought it was absolutely b*tshit. Especially because there are options nowadays. Basically no country that allows family balancing IVF would have turned them away past, oh I don't know, 3-5 boys? Maybe fewer.

I have two boys. Briefly tried for a third before calling it off. It would have been fun to have a girl, but that’s not why I wanted a third and I would have been excited about another boy too (and would have been interested in trying even if we already had one of each) I’d be lying though if I said part of me didn’t want to experience having a daughter!

This is why I was bummed to have one of each. I wanted the ease of passing things down. Now I just wonder if same sex sibling fight less.

Oh and no, I have zero desire to have a third child of any sex.

I had a girl then two boys. I am pretty sure I would have had up to four kids to try for either a boy or girl if I'd had all of one sex. But I was always ok with the idea of 3-4 kids in the first place.

I had two boys and when I got pregnant again, people asked me if I was going to have another one if this one wasn't a girl. I told them that I was going to have another one only if this one WAS a girl. I wasn't going to risk having four boys. Three is enough.

I had a girl, then a boy, and I was done.

2 boys here, and no, I wouldn't consider another just to have a girl.

I swear, I really think people who do this MUST end up disappointed on some level.

I mean, how can a specific gender possibly live up to all the expectations attached to that particular gender?

Ha! I have a close friend who had a boy and a girl, then had four more boys before she had a sister for her daughter (7 kids total). She is a very loving, doting mother though, and I can't really imagine any of her boys feeling like a disappointment.

I have three boys, and had the third because I wanted another child not because I wanted a girl. I had always planned on four, but on the fence now about going for a fourth.

I have 3 boys. After 2 boys I knew I wanted a third child for my family to feel complete, but totally didn't care whether it would be another boy or a girl. But I'm happy with 3 kids now and I'm an only child, so my mom was a bit sad not to get a granddaughter Maybe she can get a great-granddaughter.

I have distance cousins like this.

9 girls. They never got their coveted boy and the girls are made very aware.
